John Lucas attended SEU from 1961 to 1965. During that time, he earned four letters in track, running the 880, the mile, and the two-mile. Lucas won 13 individual championships in four years. In a single day’s conference competition for two consecutive years, 1962 and 1963, Lucas placed first in the 880, the mile, the two-mile, and the mile relay. He competed on the U.S. Olympic Team in Mexico City in a pre-Olympic meeting in 1964 and won third place in the 800 meter. Lucas is currently a career counselor at SEU. Married and the father of one son, Lucas stays active with tennis and skiing.
