Brooke Hughes, a sophomore-transfer from Oregon, started the 2013 Trinity Quad Tournament off by taking down 2013 All-American, Mariana Rong of St. Mary’s, 6-3, 6-4. Rong was unbeaten last year with a 21-0 record and was named Heartland Conference Player of the Year. Hughes followed that up with a split-set super tiebreaker win over Incarnate Word’s Ivana Katavic, 6-1, 2-6, 10-5, in the semifinals. In the championship match, Hughes bested Incarnate Word’s Sarah Savedra, 6-3, 6-1.
