DALLAS, Texas –St. Edward's sophomore BROOKE HUGHES was named the Heartland Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday for the week of February 17-23. This is Hughes' first Heartland Conference honor of the 2013-14 season.
 
Hughes went 3-0 this week to remain unbeaten in singles and doubles this spring. She opened Heartland conference play with a victory at number one singles and doubles over Dallas Baptist to help her team to an 8-1 victory. Hughes also beat a Division I player from Stephen F. Austin in singles, and her and her partner were up 6-3 in their doubles match when they were unable to finish as the doubles point had been decided. Hughes is currently 4-0 in singles and 3-0 doubles on the season.
