Final Results

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The second-ranked St. Edward's women's golf team remains perfect on the year after winning the Harold Funston Invitational. St. Edward's (290-297-297=884) finished the third and final round with a five-stroke lead over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (298-296-295=889) and an eight-stroke lead over Sam Houston State (297-295-300=892). The field featured a heavy load of NCAA Division I teams.
 
After tying her own her school record of 68 in the first round, WALLIS SPEARS shot a 71 and a 79 in the next two rounds to lead the team with a total of 218. Spears finished with the second best individual score behind Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Vanessa Johnson (69-72-73=214).

Hilltopper freshman JESSICA TAMEN (71-75-73=219) tied for the third best individual score of the invitational. RYANNE HADDOW (76-72-73=221) tied for the sixth. HALEY HAUGHT (75-79-72=226) tied for 15th place, while ALLISON BOCK (77-79-79=235) tied for 28^th place.

"I am very proud of how we played this week,” said head coach Jennifer McNeil. “I feel like the girls really fought hard and worked together to get this win. They really picked each other up, when others were struggling and pushed each other to grind. I learned a lot about their mental toughness and am excited going forward."
 
The Hilltoppers' next tournament will be the Dallas Baptist Invitational in Dallas, Texas on October 15^th. The two-day tourney will be held at the Golf Club of Dallas.
