Hilltoppers dominant in 5-0 win over Rogers State

AUSTIN, Texas. – St. Edward's was impressive in all aspects, Monday afternoon defeating Rogers State, 5-0, holding the Hillcats without a shot, and keeping its unblemished conference record alive.

In the 39th minute of play, GRACEN JACKS ripped a shot from 18 yards out, giving St. Edward's (8-4, 4-0 HC), its first lead of the game. Jacks would not stop there.

Nearly four minutes later, Jacks received a cross from ZOE ANSELL, and confidently found the net for her fourth goal of the year, putting the Hilltoppers ahead at the half, 2-0.

Early in the second half, JULIA HARRISON would find herself with a prime scoring opportunity, as RIANA SOOBADOO put a ball directly at her feet. The opportunity would be seized, as Harrison recorded her fourth goal of the year and put the Hilltoppers up, 3-0. KATIE KING also picked up an assist on the play as she touched the ball to Harrison.

LAUREN HELLER would be the next Hilltopper to join the scoring action, as she received a header from VALENCIA MOBLEY, only to find the back of the net in the 86th minute. It was actually a double header as JENNIFER BOUDREAU had the first header to Mobley for a second assist.

St. Edward's would continue its attacking mentality. LAUREN HELLER, looking for her second goal of the day, would take a shot from 20 yards out, only to be saved by the Hillcat goalie. WHYTNEIGH DUFFIE, however, would head the rebound, from 20 yards out into the goal for the Hilltoppers fifth goal of the affair.

While the Hilltopper offense was impressive, the defense was just as good. The back line for St. Edward's would not allow a single shot to Rogers State (0-12, 0-3 HC). Hilltopper goalkeeper, LORRIE SANTOY, would not be tested throughout the affair, bringing her season shutout total to seven.

St. Edward's, who has won four consecutive games, will look to keep its successful streak alive, as they take on Lubbock Christian Saturday, October 25th at 12:00 p.m. at the LCU Soccer Field. Live stats and video will be available through the Chaparral Athletic Website.
