Final ResultsWICHITA FALLS, Texas – The St. Edward's men's golf team had a much better second day as they shot a final-round 294 to move up to 10
th place in the Midwestern State Invitational Tuesday afternoon at the Wichita Falls Country Club.
St. Edward's (302-302-294=898) moved from 12
th place to 10
th place by improving eight strokes from its previous two rounds. Cameron (291-274-294=859) kept its lead from day one to take home the team title.
"Obviously, today was a little better, but we, as a group, agree that we have a long way to go," head coach Todd Ohlmeyer said. "We need to get more than two scores like we did each round this week and I know we are capable of that."
DILLON VAN ESSEN (73-71-73=217) led the Hilltoppers, as he finished tied for ninth place and collect his second top-10 finish of the year.
JOEY HEARN (74-76-77=227) ended tied for 52
nd place and
JAY HOGAN (81-72-76=229) tied for 59th place, while
ANDRES RODAS (74-83-77=234) tallied a tie for 68th place.
PAUL DRINKWATER (83-85-83=251), who played as an individual, ended in 82
nd place. Hernandez (86-WD-68), who sat out the second round, rallied in his final round to shoot a round-low of 68.
"Dillon had another solid week and I was happy that Jose could get back on the course this morning," Ohlmeyer said. "I believe he had the low round of the day."
St. Edward's will be back in action Friday, Oct. 31st-Nov. 1
st when they take part in the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate. The 54-hole tourney will take place at the Waikaloa Kings Resort.
