SUNRIVER, Ore. – The St. Edward's Women's Golf team shot a final-round 289 to move up three spots and finish third at the 2014 Golfweek Fall Invitational Sunday afternoon at Meadows Golf Club.
St. Edward's (304-302-289=895), who started the day in sixth place shot the third-lowest score of the round. They finished behind Dallas Baptist (298-292-294=884) who finished second, and Arkansas Tech (298-290-285=873), who took home the title.
"I am really proud of these ladies and their performance," head coach Jennifer McNeil said. "We put ourselves in a tough spot yesterday, and knew that we would have to play great today to have a chance. We did just that."
HALEY HAUGHT (74-76-71=221) led the way for the Hilltoppers, finishing in 14
th place, while
MARISSA BRANSBURG (73-76-74=223) ended two strokes behind in a tie for 15
th place.
SANDY LIVAS (78-74-72=224),
JOHANY RIVERA (79-76-72=227) and Briana Vogel (84-81-77=242) all shot their lowest round of the tournament during the final round.
Rebecka Surtevall (69-69-68=206) ran away from the field of 61 golfers, shooting seven-under par for the tourney. Tarleton State's Isabell Jimenez Perea (71-71-71=213) ended in second place followed by Chico State's Dani O'Keefe (71-74-69=214) in third place.
St. Edward's will be back in action Oct. 13-14 when it travels to Dallas, Texas to compete in the Dallas Baptist Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole event will take place at the Golf Club of Dallas.
