After a multiple deflections off Hilltopper defenders, Nicho Cusack managed to put a shot on frame with no one home to give the Orediggers a 1-0 lead with just 20 seconds left in the half.
The Hilltopppers did everything they could to find their first goal and nearly had it on several opportunities. Donahue and
MEGAN ANDERSON each had free kicks but missed the frame on both tries.
LAUREN HELLER had the ball from just five yards out and whipped a quick shot as her back was turned to goal, but Colorado Mines keeper Jayln Yates made the clutch save.
MIKAYLA ENGEL also had an attempt in the final minute as she streaked down the right side of the field. Her shot took a tricky hop but once Yates made the save to preserve the win for the Orediggers.
St. Edward's finishes its season with a 15-5 record. Colorado School of Mines improves to 16-1-4 and will host the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 matches. The Hilltopper senior class has made the NCAA Tournament all four years and played a major part in the success of the program.
