Final Results

RIO GRANDE, P.R. – Junior SANDY LIVAS shot a final-round 76 to lead the St. Edward's Women's Golf team up the leaderboard to finish as runner-up in the UIS Island Getaway. The Hilltoppers were tied for third going in to the day, but rallied in the final round on the 6,055-yard, Par 71 Rio Mar Country Club course.
 
St. Edward's (309-311=620) passed Arkansas Tech (307-322=629) and ran away from West Texas A&M (309-318=627) after being tied with the Lady Buffs after day one. Defending NCAA DII Champion Indianapolis (304-299=603) distanced itself from the field on the final day, winning the team title by 17 shots.
 
"Our goal was to land in the top-three," head coach Jennifer McNeil said. "We accomplished that, and I was happy to finish the fall season on a high note."
 
After finishing outside the top-three in their first two tournaments this year, the Hilltoppers rallied in their final two events with back-to-back runner-up finishes.
 
Livas, who started the day in sixth place, shot the best round of the day for the Hilltoppers to move up a spot to fifth place. The top-five finish was the second this season and of her career.
 
"I was glad to have Sandy finish fifth," McNeil said. "She has been playing injured for the last few weeks, so for her to grit it out shows her toughness and determination."
 
JOHANY RIVERA (75-79=154) finished with her third top-10 finish of the season by ending in eighth place. The finish was also her eighth top-10 finish of her career. ISABEL MORALES (77-79=156) finished just outside of the top-10 with a tie for 11^th place. BRIANNA VOGEL (81-77=158) played a solid final round to move ahead 18 spots to tie for 15th place. JESSICA TAMEN (81-80=161) moved up five spots to finish tied for 28^th place.
 
That will end the Fall portion of the Hilltopper schedule. The squad will begin its Spring Schedule Feb. 15-16 at the Lady Rattler Invitational hosted by St. Mary's. The two-day, 36-hole tourney will take place at the Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Texas. Live stats will be available on www.golfstat.com
