Final ResultsVALLEJO, Calif. – The St. Edward's Men's Golf team ended the final day of the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout in a tie for 13
th place at the Hiddenbrooke Golf Club Tuesday afternoon.
St. Edward's (299-310-330=939) struggled like most teams on the course today because of high winds. Only one team shot below 300 (Chico State 296) and the Hilltoppers dropped seven spots to a tie with rival St. Mary's (311-316-312=939) for 13
th place.
"This was obviously a very disappointing day for us," head coach Todd Ohlmeyer said. "We had an opportunity to solidify our spot as a top seed in the Regional Tournament but did not."
The tournament featured some of the top teams in the South Central and West regions, which included Chico State (3), Cal. St.-Monterey Bay (10), Dixie State (23), and Western New Mexico (24).
Cal. St.-Monterey Bay (286-298-313=897) ran away with the 20-team tournament, defeating Sonoma State (294-306-307=907) by 10 strokes and third place Chico State (308-306-296=910) by 13 strokes.
DILLON VAN ESSEN (74-80-77=231) led the Hilltoppers as he finished in 32
nd place.
Dixie State's Kenny You (76-69-73=218) defeated the field of 108 golfers, while CSU-Monterey Bay's Carr Vernon (71-77-73=221) and UC-Colorado Springs' Stephen Cook (68-79-74=221) tied for second place.
St. Edward's will be back in action Monday when they take part in the DBU Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole tournament takes place at Hackberry Country Club in Dallas, Texas. Live stats will be available on the Hilltopper Athletic Website.
