ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – Counting a different set of four scores each day, the St. Edward's Women's Golf team used a total team effort to finish second at the 2015 NCAA DII West Super Regional at Foxtail Golf Club Wednesday afternoon. The second-place finish advances the Hilltoppers to the NCAA DII National Tournament next week in Allendale, Mich. This is the third-straight year and fourth in the last five years to advance to the big stage.

St. Edward's (303-293-302=898) was paired with Tarleton State (307-291-295=893) and Sonoma State (294-300-308=902). They came into the final round in second place just two shot behind Sonoma State.

Throughout the entire day, all three teams took turns leading the tournament. St. Edward's held the lead with all players through the 15th hole. On the final three holes the Hilltoppers started to falter and Tarleton State seized the lead. The TexAnns held the lead for the rest of the way, but St. Edward's held off Sonoma State (294-300-308=902) for second on the strength of a 30-foot birdie putt from HALEY HAUGHT on 16, and back-to-back pars from Haught and JOHANY RIVERA on 17 and 18.

Rivera (75-78-72-=225) went from last on the team after round two, up to high finisher after round three. She finished tied for 15th.

SANDY LIVAS (76-72-78=226) ended tied for 18th place, while both seniors HALEY HAUGHT (80-71-76=227) and MARISSA BRANSBURG (77-74-76=227) finished tied for 21st. ISABEL MORALES (75-76=151) ended tied for 33rd place.

Midwestern State's Brenna Moore (69-77-74=220) and Academy of Art's Crystal Wang (69-75-76=220) tied for medalist honors.

St. Edward's will be back in action Wednesday when it takes part in the National Tournament.
