FULL RESULTSSAN ANTONIO, Texas – St. Edward's University Men's and Women's Cross Country put together another strong performance on the course at Our Lady of the Lake University Collegiate Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. The Hilltopper men finished third as a team in the 8K while the women cruised to a second-place finish in the 5K race.
KATY GILLIS took fifth-place in the individual standings after taking first last week at the Texas Lutheran Invite. Her time of 19:05 improved her personal best by over 15 seconds and led the Topper women.
JOHN DANIELS finished 11
th in his debut for the Hilltoppers to lead the men.
"It was amazing to see the team respond to the competition and support each other through the race," said head cross country coach David Chandler. "Watching the team race is so much fun. The improvement just over the past week is incredible. There were so many personal records and great performances. I am super proud of this team."
For the women, Gillis's finish came in a field of over 100 and she was not alone as
VICTORIA MAYORGA and
RACHEL FREI followed close behind in sixth and seventh.
KEOMI HAMLIN and
ALYA SALEM both placed in the top 20 as well with 11
th and 18
th-place finishes.
PAMELA CISNEROS and
MICHELLE NGUYEN rounded out St. Edward's top seven. An additional 15 Hilltoppers also gained valuable experience competing for the women in the open-entry format.
On the men's side it was
JAMES TOWNLEY (19) and
CHRIS JACKSON (20) joining Daniels in the top 20. Nicholas Zuniga and
NICHOLAS BARRETT scored 23
rd and 29
th for St. Edward's while
HOGAN DAUGHTERS and
NICK LEITGEB filled out the men's top seven.
