Final Results
DALLAS –
The St. Edward's women's golf team wrapped up play on Tuesday at the DBU Classic, shooting +16 finishing in eighth place. Sophomore
ANA SOFIA BENAVIDES finished in a tie for fifth place at +4 220.
St. Edward's shot +56 and kept its third-place standing from day one among Heartland Conference teams. Host Dallas Baptist captured the team title at +6, while St. Mary's finished third overall at +29.
HILLTOPPER NOTES
- The tournament featured five teams in the Top 25 – Dallas Baptist (1), Tarleton State (3), California Baptist (4), St. Edward's (18), and St. Mary's (19).
- Sophomore ANA SOFIA BENAVIDES (74-73-73=220) had her best finish of the season tying for fifth at +4. It is her third top-10 finish in as many starts in 2016-17.
- Junior JOHANY RIVERA (78-77-74=229) shot her best round of the tournament, moving up to finish tied for 25th at +13.
- Playing in her first career collegiate tournament, freshman ANAJOSE ERANA (82-82-79=242) shot a career-best 79 to move up nine spots to a tie for 55th at +26.

"We played another solid round today, but unfortunately we dug ourselves into a large hole after round one and couldn't recover. No doubt we will learn from this and regroup for our final fall tournament."

UP NEXT
St. Edward's will take a week off before heading to Puerto Rico to compete in the USI Island Getaway. It is the second straight season the Hilltoppers have competed in the tournament hosted by Illinois-Springfield.
