JESSICA TAMEN rallied down the stretch to lift the Hilltoppers up the leaderboard Tuesday in the final round of the Lady Rattler Invitational held at The Dominion Country Club.
Tamen (83-77=160) knocked off six strokes from her first-round score and finished with four-straight pars to end her round. She finished tied for 20
th place in the field of 94 golfers. She moved up 20 spots from the first day.
St. Edward's (326-323=649) was sitting in the 10
th position with about six holes to play as a team before Tamen's rally. Along the way, the Hilltoppers passed up #39 Oklahoma Christian (320-331=651), #31 Midwestern State (326-327=653), and #33 Angelo State (327-326=653).
Joining Tamen moving up the leaderboard was
JOHANY RIVERA (82-80=162) who moved up seven spots to tie for 26
th place.
BRIANNA VOGEL (81-81=162) and
TAYLOR DILLINGHAM (84-78=162), who was playing as an individual, both tied Rivera for 26
th place.
ANA SOFIA BENAVIDES (81-85=166) ended tied for 41
st place, while
ISABEL MORALES (82-90=172) tied for 64
th place.
St. Mary's (296-308=604) took home the team title as they defeated the field by 18 strokes on the Rattlers' home course. Tarleton State (311-311=622) finished as runner-up.
Kelly Contreras (69-75=144) of St. Mary's, took home the individual title as she finished at even-par.
The Hilltoppers will be back in action Feb. 22-23 when they host the St. Edward's Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole event will take place at Onion Creek Country Club. Updates can be found at www.GoHilltoppers.com
