WGOLF Falls to Finish Eighth at DBU Classic

Rivera collects another top 10 finish; Hilltoppers lose ground on final day

THE RUNDOWN

DALLAS, Texas – The St. Edward's University golf team fell two spots to finish in eighth place at the Dallas Baptist Women's Classic Tuesday, capping the 54-hole tournament with a third-round score of 318 Tuesday at the Golf Club of Dallas.

Tied for fourth entering the round, only ANA SOFIA BENAVIDES was able to improve her score for the Hilltoppers and SEU finished the two-day tournament with a 931 (309-304-318). The silver lining for SEU came with two top 15 finishers, JOHANY RIVERA picked up her third-consecutive top-10 finish with a tie for ninth place while SAMMY HUANG tied for 15th.

The hosts, DBU, won the tournament by 23 strokes (290-288-305-883) while St. Mary's was the runner up with a 906 (300-291-315).

HIGHLIGHTS
•    JOHANY RIVERA has now finished in the top 10 in each of SEU's three tournaments this year with her ninth-place finish in Dallas (T2 at TexAnn Fall Classic, T7 at NCAA D2 National Preview)
•    Sammy Huang put together her second top 15 finish of the season (T5 at TexAnn Fall Classic).
•    Huang also had SEU's best round Tuesday with a 77; Rivera's 72 in round two Monday was the lowest round of the tournament among Hilltoppers competitors.

WHAT'S NEXT
In two weeks, SEU gets its final tune up before the spring season with a two-day tournament hosted by Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla. Oct. 23-24.
