LAKELAND, Fla. – Senior
ELIOTT AZOULAY notched a two-under par 70 to lead St. Edward's men's golf to a 12
th-place finish on the final day of the Matlock Collegiate Classic at Lone Palm Golf Club.
St. Edward's shot 1-under par and moved up the leaderboard for a second consecutive round. Second-ranked West Florida (-34) won the tournament while seventh-ranked Nova Southeastern (-16) finished second. In one of the toughest tournaments of the season, the Hilltoppers faced six of the top 10 teams in the nation.
HILLTOPPER NOTES
- Azoulay (73-75-70=218) moved up 11 spots to finish tied for 31st. The senior led the Hilltoppers with 14 birdies on the tournament.
- Azoulay produced an under-par round for the fifth time this season.
- Senior JOEY HEARN (76-68-74=218) ended tied with Azoulay for 31st. Hearn was outstanding on par-5's, finishing 9-under par.
- Senior JAY HOGAN (74-77-72=223) tied for 45th place and sophomore ANDREW SPEAR (77-74-76=227) tied for 58th place.
- Junior THOMAS HOLTZMAN (77-80-72=229) rounded out the scoring, tied for 58th place.

"Today was a little closer to what we expect when playing. There are still some things that need to be tightened up but today was much better. This was an extremely deep field with 12 teams in the Top 25. It was a good tune-up for next week's regional matchup at St. Mary's."
