Final Results

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The St. Edward's women's golf team saw its season end Wednesday, finishing sixth in the NCAA West Super Regional at Wichita Falls Country Club.
 
St. Edward's (301-300-321=922) came into the final round in second place, but struggled as the field chased it down. The Hilltoppers dropped four spots to finish one stroke behind No. 8 Tarleton State (312-296-313=921). West Texas A&M (297-294-306=897) took home the team title, with Dallas Baptist (301-301-297=899) and St. Mary's (317-303-292=912) also qualifying for the NCAA National Championship.
 
Senior SANDY LIVAS (76-73-79=228) led the Hilltoppers with eight birdies for the tournament, finishing tied for 16th place.
 
St. Mary's Regina Gonzalez (76-72-74=222) won the individual title finishing 6-over par.
 
HILLTOPPER NOTES

• Junior JOHANY RIVERA (74-76-79=229) ended with seven birdies during the tournament and finished tied for 22nd.
• Senior ISABEL MORALES (78-77-82=237) tallied the second-most pars in the tournament with 36.
• The field was comprised of 66 golfers, which included 26 players ranked within the top 100 nationally.
• All 12 teams that competed are ranked within the top 35 nationally, including three teams in the top 10: Dallas Baptist (2), Tarleton State (8), and California Baptist (9).

"We didn't do a good job handling pressure today. Great teams step up in big moments and we didn't manage to do that. I'm sad for my seniors to end their careers this way, but I hope as they leave this program they can say they've had a great career and are proud of what they accomplished. My second hope is that this will help motivate JoJo (Rivera) and Sofi (Benavides) to work hard this summer so they never have this feeling again. With that said, we had a great season. We've been nationally ranked the majority of the year and had two wins. I hope that's the lasting memory in their minds."
