THE RUNDOWN

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – JOHANY RIVERA collected the seventh individual tournament title of her collegiate career, leading No. 22 St. Edward's to a third-place finish Tuesday at the St. Mary's Rattler Invitational. Rivera shot an even par (73-71-144) at the Dominion Country Club to win by two strokes while SEU finished third at +41 (310-307-617) for the tournament.

Rivera led the tournament in both Par 3 and Par 5 scoring and tallied seven birdies on the way to her first win since the Mustang Intercollegiate April 10-11 in Goodyear, Ariz. ANA SOFIA BENAVIDES and SAMMY HUANG tied for 16th place at 12-over par, and freshman CAROLINE STORM jumped 15 places from 52nd to a tie for 37th after improving her first-round score by seven strokes (84-77-161).

The Heartland Conference was well represented as SEU joined St. Mary's and Dallas Baptist as the top three team finishers in the 16-team field. The Hilltoppers (310-307-617) finished behind the hosts, St. Mary's (306-302-608) and the winners, Dallas Baptist (294-296-590). Rogers State and UAFS rounded out the Heartland's five teams in the tournament with 10th and 11th place teams, respectively.

THEY SAID IT
SEU Head Coach Jenn McNeil on the team and Rivera's performance …
"I feel fortunate to have finished 3rd this week. It was truly a battle for us, so I'm glad we could manage a top-three finish. JoJo [Rivera] played great. She set a goal last week of winning this one. [I'm] pumped for her to have accomplished that goal."
