THE RUNDOWN
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 22-ranked SEU women's golf team shot the low round of the day in the second and final round of the St. Edward's Invitational Tuesday at the Onion Creek Country Club to jump from fifth to a third-place finish. The Hilltoppers followed Monday's 311 with a 299 Tuesday and JOHANY RIVERA and SAMMY HUANG tied for fifth place overall.
 
SEU's 610 was just four shots off the lead and Tarleton State (299-307-606) took home the team trophy while St. Mary's (302-306-608) was the runner up.
 
Rivera shot a 75 each day for a 5-over 150 while Huang followed a 77 Monday with the Hilltoppers' best round of the tournament, a 73, Tuesday. ANA SOFIA BENAVIDES cut six strokes off her score from Monday to Tuesday finishing with a 154 (80-74).
 
SEU's third-place finish was the best since the fall opener at Tarleton State's TexAnn Fall Classic Sept. 11-12 where the Hilltoppers placed second.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
• SEU broke 300 as a team for the fifth time this season.
• SAMMY HUANG's tie for fifth place was her second top-5 finish of the season.
• JOHANY RIVERA's tie for fifth place was her third top-5 finish of the season.
• Rivera was tied for second in the 90-woman field in Par 5 scoring finishing even.
• Rivera led the field in pars with 27 out of 36 holes.

SEU Head Coach Jennifer McNeil on rebounding for a solid round two …
"Great comeback for the girls. I thought they fought really hard, and played really tough in tough conditions. With the wind and rain, I thought they did a great job of competing. Anytime we can finish in the top three, I'm happy. It was an extremely competitive field, so for Sammy [Huang] and JoJo [Rivera] to finish in the top five will go a long way for their ranking."
