THE RUNDOWN
PALM DESERT, Calif. – Three Hilltoppers placed in the top 13 with junior
SAMMY HUANG leading the way with a tie for sixth, and the No. 19-ranked St. Edward's women's golf team placed third at the Augustana College Spring Fling Friday at the Classic Club.
SEU finished with a 628 (309-319) falling behind CSU-San Marcos (306-307-613) and the winners, the University of Indianapolis (311-295-606).
Huang finished with a 154, staying consistent with a 77 in each round while
ANA SOFIA BENAVIDES placed 10th (79-77-156) and
ANAJOSE ERANA tied for 13th (74-84-158).
St. Edward's out-dueled the only other Texas school present as the Tarleton State TexAnns placed fourth with a 633 (316-317). The tournament included 12 teams and 72 competitors.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Huang finished in the top 10 for the third consecutive tournament and the fourth time this season with her tie for sixth place.

ANA SOFIA BENAVIDES' tie for 10th place was her first top 10 finish since Oct. 23-34 when she tied for 8th at the Flagler Fall Slam; she has three top-10 finishes this season.
•
ANAJOSE ERANA's tie for 13th was her best finish since she tied for 11th at the TexAnn Fall Classic to open the season in September; her first-round 74 was her best round of the spring.
• SEU finished second among the field with 18 birdies.

"I'll take 3rd every week. I just wish we had played better. I never mind losing when we play well makes it much harder when we play poorly."

The Hilltoppers resumes competition April 2-3 in Tuscon, Ariz. at the West Texas Desert Invitational played at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Phoenix, Ariz.
