THE RUNDOWN

HORSESHOE BAY, Texas – The No. 22-ranked St. Edward's women's golf team finished fourth at the Heartland Conference Championship Tuesday at the Slick Rock Golf Club, and senior JOHANY RIVERA landed a spot on the all-tournament team after tying for fifth place.
 
The Hilltoppers started the tournament in fourth place after round one Sunday, stayed there in round two Monday and concluded in the same spot Tuesday finishing the tournament with a 904 (298-299-307). Rivera earned her second all-tournament selection (2016) after shooting a 54-hole total of 219 (71-73-75).
 
ANA SOFIA BENAVIDES progressively improved her scores from day one and was SEU's next-best finisher at a tie for 13th place (76-75-73-224).
 
Dallas Baptist won the event by 24 strokes (861), St. Mary's (885) checked in second, and Rogers State was the last team to finish ahead of SEU at third (895). The Hilltoppers finished in front of Newman (906), Oklahoma Christian (926) placed sixth, Arkansas-Fort Smith (935) was seventh, Lubbock Christian (993) was eighth and Texas A&M International (1,085) rounded out the nine-team field.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
• Senior JOHANY RIVERA tied for fifth place with a three-over par finish and earned her third Heartland Conference Championship all-tournament selection (2015, 2017, 2018).
• ANA SOFIA BENAVIDES (13th) was the next-best finisher for SEU while NICOLE TEGO (20th) and SAMMY HUANG (T21st) rounded out the Hilltoppers foursome.
• Rivera ranked third in Par-4 scoring (+1) and in birdies with 10 among the 45-woman field.
• Huang was fourth among the field with 37 pars.

WHAT'S NEXT
St. Edward's will await word from the NCAA selection committee as to whether or not they will advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament; selections are announced Sunday.
