Second Half Goals Lift Hilltoppers to Win

Box Score LAREDO, Texas -  St. Edward's scored two goals within four minutes of each other in the second half to defeat Texas A&M International 2-1 Thursday evening.

After a scoreless first half that saw SEU lead 6-2 in shots, the Hilltoppers got to work and struck first in the 62nd minute. DYLAN ARMSTRONG's lofting corner kick found IZAAC ZAUSCH who buried it into the back of the net. Three minutes and 48 seconds later SEU struck again, this time with Armstrong as the goal scorer and PARKER FYFE assisting.

Five minutes later TAMIU attempted a comeback with a goal from Rodrigo Zuniga to pull within one, but WILLIAM TUFFIN and the St. Edward's defense went on lock down the rest of the way to secure the win.

Tuffin logged six saves on seven shots to earn the win while his counterpart, Carlos Herrera, logged two saves on four shots.

St. Edward's improves to 2-2-0 overall and 1-0 in Heartland Conference play while TAMIU falls to 1-2-1 on the year. The Hilltoppers next head to conference-rival #13 St. Mary's on Saturday, September 15 at 1 pm.
