DENVER, Colo. - Despite leading Metro State in shots and corners, St. Edward's men's soccer was unable to find the back of the net on the road, falling 1-0 Sunday afternoon.
Metro State scored the only goal of the match in the 18th minute and were able to crowd the box the rest of the way to keep the Hilltoppers from scoring the equalizer.
SEU wasn't without their chances, however, outshooting the RoadRunners 11-9 and led 6-2 in corner kicks. CODY SPITZER nearly tied the contest in the waning moments with two shots that glanced off the crossbar in the final two minutes.
"Even though we lacked a shot on goal we got to some real dangerous areas, we just have to get them on frame," said Head Coach Brian Young. "There were a few factors against us that were out of our control, but the guys battled hard and I am proud of their effort in the second half."
St. Edward's falls to 0-2 on the year and come home for the first time this season to face UC Colorado Springs on Sunday, September 9th at 1 pm.
