Box Score WICHITA, Kansas - Newman scored in early in the contest and were able to hold off SEU the rest of the way to hand the Hilltoppers their second consecutive loss, 1-0, Saturday.
Newman got an early goal from Ed Jabbari in the 12th minute of play and the lead allowed the Jets to focus on their defensive efforts the rest of the way. SEU ended the first half with a pair of corner kicks, but were unable to capitalize on either as halftime commenced.
Head Coach Brian Young got his team refocused at halftime and the Hilltoppers came out strong, getting good looks early but weren't able to put one away. Newman's Chase Bowman seemed to have the Hilltoppers marked as he kept the clean sheet intact all the way to the final horn.
St. Edward's held the advantage in shots (4-3) and corners (5-2).
SEU falls to 3-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference with the loss. They return home to host nationally-ranked Midwestern State on Thursday, October 4 at 3 pm.
