ORLANDO, Fla. – LAURA RODRIGUEZ and
MAGDALENA LOPEZ each carded 77s to lead 19th-ranked St. Edward's in the final round of the Rollins Legends Invitational on Tuesday at the Country Club of Orlando.
Rodriguez finished tied for 24th place overall to pace the Hilltoppers at the 54-hole event. The sophomore from Mission shot a three-round total of 229 (74-78-77).
Lopez, a freshman from Torreon, Mexico, carded a 235 (74-84-77), which put her in a tie for 35th place.
ELENA CASTANON tied for 37th after turning in a three-round score of 246 (79-79-78).
KIERSTEN BRYANT finished in 44th place with a 239 (75-81-83), while
ROMINA GONZALEZ tied for 45th with a 240 (85-77-78).
The Hilltoppers finished in ninth place on the team leaderboard with 927 strokes (302-315-310).
Dallas Baptist repeated a champions of the tournament, which is in its second year, as the fifth-ranked Patriots combined to shoot 895 (293-303-299) to top a field that included nine ranked teams. Saint Leo's Synne Lauritzen rallied from three shots down on the final day to force a playoff hole against Lynn's Matilda Wahren. Lauritzen won individual medalist honors via a playoff.
St. Edward's has wrapped up its fall slate and will begin preparations for its spring schedule. The Hilltoppers will host the St. Edward's Invitational on Feb. 24-25 at Onion Creek Club.
