LAWTON, Okla. – The 25th-ranked St. Edward's women's tennis team earned a 4-2 victory against Cameron on Saturday at the Stretch-Henry Tennis Complex.
The Hilltoppers (12-4) won the doubles point and collected three more victories in singles action to win their second straight match.
BETH HAYWARD and
VALENTINA MARTINEZ continued their perfect spring with a 6-3 triumph at the top doubles position.
ELISA GUILLEN and
LAURA GALVAN clinched the opening point, as the duo earned a 6-3 win at the third flight.
Martinez stretched the advantage to 2-0 with a straight sets win at No. 3 singles. It pushed her record to 19-4 this season and 13-1 in dual-match play.
KATE MALAZONIA also won in straight sets (6-4, 6-3) at the second spot to put the 'Toppers up 3-0.
The Aggies (6-11) picked up points at Nos. 1 and 4 singles before St. Edward's close out the match.
LOLI PERIM earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the sixth flight to clinch the contest. She pushed her winning streak to three matches, while also improving to 11-3 in singles play this year.
The Hilltoppers will open conference play on Thursday, April 4 at Dallas Baptist. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
