Cotton logs top-5 finish to lead men's golf at first tournament


FINAL RESULTS

AMARILLO –
AUSTIN COTTON tied for fifth place to lead St. Edward's at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational, which wrapped up Tuesday at Tascosa Country Club.

Cotton carded a three-round total of 5-under-par 208 (68-71-69) in his first tournament with the Hilltoppers.

St. Edward's finished third place overall, as the squad combined for a score of 854 (278-281-295). The Hilltoppers finished behind Oklahoma Christian (282-278-280–840) and St. Mary's (283-286-280–849).

JAKE LIVERMORE bolstered SEU's finish after he tied for third. The sophomore from Frisco shot a 212 (68-69-75) during the event. CLAYTON KING (71-70-75–216) tied for 28th place, while ANDREW ZOBAL (72-71-76–219) tied for 41st in his first collegiate event. BEN CONSTANCIO shot a 222 (71-74-77), which was good for 54th place. MATTHEW ADAMS (79-76-77–232) also debuted for St. Edward's and finished tied for 82nd place.

The Hilltoppers will return to Austin to prepare for their home tournament, the Golf Glove Hub St. Edward's Fall Classic, which will take place Sept. 23-24 at Avery Ranch Golf Club.
