Men's golf wins fall classic

Men's golf captures Golf Glove Hub St. Edward's Fall Classic championship

AUSTIN –
BEN CONSTANCIO captured individual medalist honors and led the Hilltoppers to the 2019 Golf Glove Hub St. Edward's Fall Classic championship on Tuesday at Avery Ranch Golf Club.

Constancio shot a three-round score of 208 (70-70-68) to win the tournament by two strokes over St. Mary's Ryan Dixon (66-72-72–210). The Pflugerville native wrote down five birdies on the final 18 holes. He started his day with three consecutive birdies.

The Hilltoppers improved in each of the three rounds to shoot an 857, finishing two strokes ahead of Midwestern State. St. Edward's trailed St. Mary's for the team lead by four strokes before round three started on Tuesday. SEU combined to shoot a 290 in round one and then trimmed five strokes for a 285 in the second round. The squad wrapped up the tournament with a 6-under-par 282 in round three.

RYAN MCGINLEY rode a second-round 67 to a 10th-place finish. He carded a three-round score of 217 (79-67-71) in his season debut. JAKE LIVERMORE finished tied for 13th place. AUSTIN COTTON and CLAYTON KING tied for 23rd place to round out the team performance. Cotton's 222 included a final-round 71, while King used a second-round 72 to turn in his 222.

ANDREW ZOBAL led the Hilltoppers' individuals with a 223 (73-79-71).

St. Edward's will take a couple weeks off before traveling to Michigan to participate in the Motor City Invitational, which is hosted by Wayne State at TPC Michigan in Dearborn.
