Men's golf ties for second at Jack Brown Memorial

No. 18 St. Edward's ties for second at Jack Brown Memorial Invite

LAREDO, Texas - The first tournament of the spring season is in the books for the St. Edward's men's golf team who finished tied for second place at the Jack Brown Memorial Invitational Tuesday. The Hilltoppers posted a team score of 863 (280-297-286) and finished just five strokes off the lead. 

AUSTIN COTTON led the way for SEU, finishing with 211 strokes (69-72-70) to tie for third place. Cotton had two eagles throughout the tournament with 36 pars. Rogers State's Nicolas Horder won the event with 204 strokes. CLAYTON KING posted a top-ten finish as well, coming in tied for seventh with 215 strokes (71-71-73). 

JAKE LIVERMORE returned to form in the final round, matching his first round effort of 70 to finish tied for 14th place with 219 strokes (70-79-70). Livermore also led all golfers in birdies, posting a tournament-high 16 birdies. RYAN MCGINLEY was just one shot back with 220 strokes (70-77-73) while MATTHEW ADAMS rounded out the Hilltopper squad with 235 strokes (76-77-82). 

St. Edward's continues to take on some of the nation's best teams, competing next in the St. Mary's Invitational on February 24-25 in San Antonio.
