SAN ANGELO, Texas – St. Edward's continued their tough weekend of action, facing #9 Angelo State University on Sunday, falling 8-0 and 7-3.
GAME 1: SEU 0 – ASU 8 (6)
After two scoreless innings Angelo State unloaded for four runs in the third and continued to add to their lead throughout the game, posting two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth and sixth innings.
The Hilltoppers were unable to get the bats going, notching just three hits in the contest.
REAGAN CARTER suffered the loss in the circle, allowing six runs on six hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
GAME 2: SEU 3 – ASU 7
Angelo State opened game two on a mission and posted four runs in the first inning to start the Hilltoppers off in a hole. SEU chipped away at the lead, scoring one run on a single by
KYLIE MICA in the second and then added two in the third on Ram errors.
With just a one run advantage, 4-3, ASU came to the plate in the bottom of the third and got one run back. A two-run shot by Barnhill put Angelo State up by four and the Hilltoppers could not get their offense rolling again to suffer the loss.
JULISA ORTEGA took the loss in the circle, allowing four runs on two hits with one walk. Four Hilltoppers logged hits in the loss with Mica recording the only RBI.
St. Edward's falls to 12-10 on the season and 3-5 in the Lone Star Conference. They return home to host #14 Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
