Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Preston nets two in win over ENMU

PORTALES, N.M. - St. Edward's women's soccer continued their winning ways Saturday with a 3-1 win over Eastern New Mexico to remain undefeated in Lone Star Conference play.

SARAH PRESTON was quick to put the Hilltoppers on the board, scoring her first goal of the match in the 18th minute. REAGAN DYKES found Preston on a free kick who buried the ball in the back of the net to put SEU on top 1-0.

Just before the halftime buzzer sounded, St. Edward's got some breathing room at the foot of KATIE GAY who scored with just 1:45 left on the clock.

With a 2-0 lead in hand, the stout Hilltopper defense took control and fended off the Greyhounds until ENMU was able to sneak one in in the 73rd minute.

Preston and Dykes teamed up again to get the goal back and extend SEU's lead back to two, scoring the final goal of the match in the 83rd minute.

St. Edward's lead 16-11 in shots with SARAH GUNDERSON, TRISTYN CABELLO, KATELYN SMITH and Preston all recording two shots on frame. ABBY CARLSON posted four saves in goal to secure the win.

St. Edward's improves to 4-2-2 on the year and 2-0-1 in the Lone Star Conference. They return to action on October 6, facing Texas A&M International at 5 pm in Laredo, Texas.
