CANYON, Texas – St. Edward's softball was defeated in back-to-back games at #10 West Texas A&M Friday, falling 11-1 and 9-1 Friday.
GAME 1: SEU 1 – WT 11
West Texas wasted no time defending their home field, scoring four runs in the first inning.
ALEXIS MASSIE's double in the third drove in
GENISA MARRERO-CARTER, putting the Hilltoppers on the board, but the Buffs responded with seven runs in the bottom half of the inning.
SEU was unable to string anything together the rest of the way to suffer the run-rule loss.
Marrero-Carter led at the plate, going 2-3 while
MCKENNA LEAMON suffered the loss in the circle.
GAME 1: SEU 1 – WT 9
St. Edward's struck first in game two, scoring one run on a two-out single by
KATHRYN CONNELLY. West Texas responded with a run of their own to even the count 1-1 through one.
WT was able to score five in the second inning to take a commanding lead and added two in the sixth on to secure the run rule win.
Six Hilltoppers logged a hit while
CADIE BELLE CURRIE suffered the loss in the circle.
St. Edward's drops to 8-10 on the year and 5-9 in Lone Star Conference play. They return to action on April 2, opening a two-game series against St. Mary's
