AUSTIN – In a reversal of fortunes from Sunday night's match, St. Edward's women's soccer blanked Texas A&M International Wednesday, defeating the Dust Devils 3-0.
It took no time at all for the Hilltoppers to seize control, scoring in the seventh minute.
EMMA VIQUEZ settled the ball to the right of the box and found
MARYANNE CROWE open dead center of goal. Crowe easily placed the ball in the back of the net to put SEU on top 1-0.
Just minutes after entering the match,
KATIE GAY gave SEU some breathing room with a goal in the 32
nd minute. Gay settled a loose ball in the box and expertly placed the ball inside the near post to send the Hilltoppers into the break up 2-0.
Once again, Gay scored in the 70
th minute to put the game out of reach for TAMIU, assisted by
KATELYN SMITH.
St. Edward's outshot the Dust Devils 18-5 while holding TAMIU to no corner kicks.
MEGHAN DUNNING secured the win and shutout with one save.
SEU moves to 1-2 on the year and has won their first Lone Star Conference game of the year. They return to action on March 10, facing Angelo State in San Angelo, Texas at 6 pm.
