OKLAHOMA CITY - Two big offensive innings by the Rams led to a 9-4 loss in the LSC Championship Thursday.
Angelo State scored three in the opening inning, taking an early lead that proved to be a challenge for the Hilltoppers to overcome.
SEU got one run back in the second with a leadoff homerun from
LAUREN WERNING who had been hot all day. The Hilltoppers loaded the bases after the homerun but were unable to push more runs across in the frame to trail 3-1.
A huge fourth inning put ASU up 9-1, but St. Edward's refused to give in and mounted a comeback, scoring three in the fifth to cut the deficit to 9-4. St. Edward's was unable to add to the comeback as they suffered the loss.
KATHRYN CONNELLY and
KAYLEE MCQUILLAN posted two hits each to lead at the plate.
CADIE BELLE CURRIE suffered the loss in the circle, allowing three runs on four hits.
The Hilltoppers end the year with a 17-21 overall mark.
