AUSTIN, Texas - The St. Edward's softball team split their Sunday doubleheader against Texas A&M International. The Hilltoppers lost game one 9-2 and won game two 8-0.

Game One: TAMI 9, SEU 2

After a scoreless first, the Dustdevils scored the first run of the game after drawing a bases-loaded walk to give them a 1-0 lead after two innings of play.Â

In the bottom of the third, Lauren Hoyt singled home a run to drive in the Hilltoppers first run of the game, tying the game at 1-1.Â

An RBI double for the Dustdevils gave them a 2-1 lead over the Hilltoppers in the fourth. However, in the bottom of the fourth, Alexis Massie drove in Valerie Brant on a sacrifice fly to right field to tie the game at 2-2.Â

After a scoreless fifth, the Dustdevils drove in seven runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach for the Hilltoppers.Â

Starting pitcher, McKenna Leamon allowed just two runs on two hits in four innings of work. Cadie Currie picked up the loss as she gave up six runs on four hits in just over an inning of work.Â

Game Two: SEU 8, TAMI 0

The Hilltoppers bats woke up in game two as their offense put up eight runs in six innings to end the game early.Â

In the bottom of the second, a two-run double by Maddy Larson gave the Hilltoppers the early advantage. Later in the inning, a throwing error allowed Larson to score and give the Hilltoppers a 3-0 lead. Â

After two scoreless innings, Alexis Massie drove in two runs on an RBI single up the middle to extend the Hilltoppers lead to 5-0 in the fifth.Â

In the sixth, the Hilltoppers put the Dustdevils away on a Kathryn Connelly sacrifice fly, and a two-run triple by Valerie Brant.

Pitcher Reena Toomey pitched a complete game shutout in the victory. She pitched six innings while giving up four hits and no runs.Â

SEU is back on the road this weekend to face Texas Women's in Denton. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 3 pm. Â
