CANYON, Texas – St. Edward's scored three goals in the second half to defeat the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs 3-1 on the road.
West Texas A&M struck early when St. Edward's keeper
DARIA SCHLUMBOHM stopped but couldn't corral Ashley Silvestre's shot to the bottom right, and the latter collected the rebound and found Mollie Ferro for the goal in the 11th minute.
The Lady Buffs generated an 11-7 shot advantage in the first half, and a 4-0 edge in corner kick to go into the break with a 1-0 lead.
St. Edward's put up four shots in the first ten minutes after the break but didn't break through until the 75th minute when
TRISTYN CABELLO scored on a header off a quick series of passes from
ARI RAMIREZ to
CAITLYN GONZALEZ to Cabello for the double-assist score.
Three minutes later, Ramirez scored on a through ball from
REBEKKA REHRER to the left side, scoring to the right for the go-ahead goal.
RAINEY SIMMONS added an insurance goal in the final minute when she received the ball in the box and quickly turned to the outside, creating a lane to score the goal.
St. Edward's improves to 5-5-3 with a 4-4-2 record after the win. The Hilltoppers will host UT Tyler on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 4 p.m.
