DALLAS – St. Edward's men's soccer returned to the pitch for its first game since 2019, playing a competitive match through 65 minutes before Dallas Baptist University pulled away for a 3-0 win.
The Hilltoppers doubled the Patriots in shot attempts 4-2 in the first half as both teams went scoreless through the first 45 minutes.
St. Edward's made a push early in the second half, producing four shots in a 12-minute window, including two from Joaquin Maud, but three of the four were off the mark, and DBU keeper Alexander Knepper stopped
CARLOS HUATO's shot at the 60:43 mark.
DBU regained its composure a few minutes later when Nathan Hayes found Blake Bauer for the score at the 65:25 mark. A little more than 10 minutes later, Evan Pustejovsky assisted a Peyton Voelker goal at 77:59, and DBU was credited with a team goal with less than two minutes remaining.
St. Edward's will return home to host the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 4:00 p.m.
