AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's women's soccer surrendered two first-half goals in a 2-0 loss to the Texas Woman's University Pioneers.
TWU tested the Hilltopper defense immediately, putting three shots on goal in the first six minutes, including one in the first 30 seconds, with St. Edward's keeper
DARIA SCHLUMBOHM stopping all three.
The Pioneers broke through just shy of the ninth minute when Alyssa Valdez found Celeste Beltran for the goal. Both teams played on even terms over the next 15 minutes until Bella Alfaro added an insurance goal.
St. Edward's got two shots off in the 28th and 30th minute.
RAINEY SIMMONS' attempt went wide left and
CARINA WUST's shot was stopped by Amanda Farris. The Hilltoppers put together six shots in the second half, including one on goal, but were denied.
The Hilltoppers record drops to 2-5-2 with the loss, including 0-3-1 in conference play. St. Edward's will travel to play St. Mary's in the Battle of the Saints on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
