DENTON, Texas – St. Edward's women's soccer showed its resilience, taking Texas Woman's University to a double overtime 1-1 draw, but fell 3-2 on penalty kicks in the Lone Star Conference Quarterfinals.
The Hilltoppers put two early shots on goal in the first 11 minutes but were denied by TWU keeper Faith Graves.
MARIE HANNEDOUCHE went high in the tenth minute, then
BAILEY WILLIAMS' shot was stopped out of a corner kick.
CARINA WUST, fresh off winning the LSC Offensive Player of the Week, went bottom-right in the 20th minute for a third shot on goal stopped by Graves.
Texas Woman's University broke through in the 23rd minute when Celeste Beltran led Ailyn Oliveros with a pass into space in the box. Oliveros delivered the shot just past the outstretched diving arms of St. Edward's keeper

The Pioneers kept the momentum going with back-to-back shots from Celeste Beltran. Schlumbohm stopped the first one, and the second blocked, leading to a corner. Alyssa Striker missed the ensuing shot out of the corner.
Texas Woman's University's Bailee Radney and
ANNIE ROCHA exchanged shots just before the half, ending with the Pioneers holding a 1-0 lead.
Radney fired two shots in the first six minutes of the second half, and Beltran followed a
TRISTYN CABELLO shot with another attempt on goal for TWU. The Pioneers continued to generate shots with eight in the second half.
St. Edward's finally broke through in the final two minutes.
BAILEY WILLIAMS triggered a free kick from just behind midfield, and
ALYSSA GARCIA got a head on the ball, sending it forward near Cabello, who launched the ball into the back of the net to tie the game.
Both teams got a shot in the first overtime. Abby Powers missed high for TWU, and Graves stopped Garcia's shot on goal. Gaves stopped
LANE ROGERS' shot in the second overtime, and Schlumbohm stopped a Halee Avery penalty kick to force a penalty-kicks shootout.
Cabello continued her stellar play by making the first shootout attempt while Schlumbohm stopped Beltran. Both keepers stopped the second attempt, and Radney evened things up after
ANNIE ROCHA was stopped on St. Edward's third. Both teams made the fourth attempt, and Amanda Farris made the game-winner after Garcia was stopped on the fifth attempt.
