CANYON, Texas – Men's Soccer generated ten shots against West Texas A&M on the Buffalos home pitch but only managed one on goal in a 1-0 loss in the regular-season finale.
CHRISTIAN MEZAS tested West Texas A&M keeper Luke Southerington in the tenth minute with a low shot down the middle that Southerington stopped. The Hilltopper possession ended with an offside penalty.
Mezas and Isaiah Garza missed left and right over the next eight minutes before West Texas A&M went to its bench with a pair of substitutions in the 20th minute. Rotem Weiss entered the game and almost immediately put a shot off the crossbar. A minute later, Quintin Benn-John's shot hit the left woodwork. The Buffs finally broke through when Matteo Landais found Zakaria Daaou for the goal.
St. Edward's got a shot from IRVIN ABARCA ten minutes into the second half that missed wide left. EASTON JONES missed out on a corner set piece in the 59th minute. VICENTE ALVAREZ, MASOOD PORSA, and EMILIANO ABBOUD also generated shots off goal in the second half.
The Hilltoppers finished the regular season with a 7-5-4 record, including 5-2-3 in conference play. St. Edward's will host UT-Tyler in the Lone Star Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday.
