St. Edward's Welcomes Linsey Montgomery To Its Cross Country and Track and Field Coaching Staff

| By:
AUSTIN, Texas -- St. Edward's Cross Country and Track & Field Head Coach Steven Cary welcomes the addition of new assistant coach Linsey Montgomery to his coaching staff.

Montgomery joins St. Edward's with track and field experience across multiple divisions, including stops at the University of Oregon and Multnomah University over the past three years. She bolsters a coaching staff that is adding an indoor track and field season to its cross-country and outdoor track and field schedule.

"I'm excited to announce the addition of Linsey Montgomery to St. Edward's. With our program growing exponentially over the next several years, it's imperative that our staff reflect such changes so that we can continue to deliver the best experience possible for our student-athletes," Cary says. "From national qualifiers and All-Americans to individual conference champions, she's demonstrated the ability to develop young men and women in the sport successfully. Our student-athletes will benefit greatly from her positivity, knowledge, and eagerness to help them grow physically, mentally, and emotionally during their time on the Hilltop. I'm looking forward to Linsey helping us take steps forward as we strive to compete at the highest level in the conference and on a national level."

Before St. Edward's, Montgomery served as the assistant track and field coach and director of operations coordinator for Multnomah University. She specialized in short and long sprints for the men's and women's teams and managed logistics for recruiting visits and travel. Last season, she helped eight individuals and one relay team qualify for NAIA nationals. The men and women combined for seven individual event conference championships and set three Cascade Conference records.

The previous year, she served as Multnomah University's sports information director, senior women's leader, and assistant track and field coach for the sprints, hurdles, and jumps programs. She had six athletes qualify for the NAIA indoor nationals and 14 outdoor national qualifiers.

Montgomery served as a volunteer assistant track and field coach for the University of Oregon for the 2021-22 academic year, assisting with hurdles, jumps, and sprints.

From 2017 through 2019, Montgomery worked as an assistant track and field coach for the Randolph Roadrunner Club in San Antonio, Texas, a strength and conditioning intern with Redline Athletics, and an assistant track and field coach for the YMCA in Dallas, Texas.

Montgomery received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Dallas Baptist University in December 2020.

"I'm extremely grateful to join St. Edward's University's Cross Country and Track and Field Program. I would like to thank Coach Cary and SEU Athletics for this opportunity to continue to help build the success of this program," Montgomery says. "My goal is to serve the student-athletes and not only shape them into skilled and confident athletes on the track but into strong men and women of character and integrity off the track.

"I'm looking forward to helping expand the program on the track and field side, compete in the Lone Star Conference, this time as a coach, and be back home in Texas. I'm excited to join the Hilltop!"

St. Edward's cross-country season begins Friday, Sept. 13, at the Texas A&M Invitational. The men's and women's track and field teams will compete in the Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field season this academic year for the first time.
