TYLER, Texas – St. Edward's women's soccer posted its second consecutive shutout but couldn't find the back of the net against undefeated UT-Tyler in a scoreless draw to open Lone Star Conference play.
TRISTYN CABELLO pressured the UT-Tyler defense early with a pair of shots in the first seven minutes, testing UT-Tyler keeper Emily Clark with a shot on goal in the third minutes and then one wide left in the sixth.
UT-Tyler put two shots on goal in the half, with St. Edward's keeper
DARIA SCHLUMBOHM stopping both. The Hilltoppers and Patriots ended the half with four shots each, though the Patriots had a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Patriots were active to start the second half, with five shots in the first ten minutes. Schlumbohm stopped one, and the Hilltopper defense blocked three others, including a fifth shot that sailed high. St. Edward's got a pair of shots off in the final five minutes, but
ANNIE ROCHA's attempt went high, and
MARIE HANNEDOUCHE's shot was blocked.
St. Edward's is now 2-2-2 on the season. The Hilltoppers will host Lubbock Christian on Saturday for Senior Day.
