FORT WORTH, Texas – Four of St. Edward's top five runners ran career-best times at the Lone Star Conference Championships, carrying the Hilltoppers to a seventh-place team finish despite missing star runner MIA RIVERA.
JENNA SAUNDERS continues to build on a strong return from last spring's season-ending injury, making it all the way back and then some with a career-best 23:07.6 for 31st place over the 6K course.
DELANEY LONG, the Hilltoppers' breakthrough senior in the midst of a career season, set another new personal standard, crossing in 23:17.7 for 33rd, while SAMMY SALAZAR hit a new mark of 24:02.7 in 47th and JULIANA MERLO rounded out the scoring five in 46th at 24:01.8.
Victoria placed 49th at 24:04.2, also a personal-best., providing steady support, and ADRIANA RODRIGUEZ (64th, 24:56.1), Julia Gainar (91st, 26:15.5), and MEGAN FERRELL (101st, 27:05.1) added depth to the lineup.
Even without their top runner, the Hilltoppers showcased resilience and depth, turning personal-best performances into one of the team's strongest collective efforts of the season.
