WICHITA FALLS, Texas — St. Edward's women's soccer saw its 2025 season come to a close Monday night in the Lone Star Conference Quarterfinals, falling 2-0 to No. 2-seeded Midwestern State at Stang Park.
The Hilltoppers (7-10-3) held strong for much of the first half before the Mustangs broke through in the 32nd minute by the slimmest of margins off a well-driven in-swinging corner from Mable Pruter. Marlene Myrvold slipped to the near post and headed in the opening goal off the post and covered by St. Edward's keeper
DARIA SCHLUMBOHM, but inches too late.
St. Edward's created a few opportunities in a physical match that saw 19 total fouls and three yellow cards against the Hilltoppers. Sophomore
RILEY SISSON produced the team's lone first-half chance with a blocked shot in the seventh minute, while
KATIE FITZPATRICK forced the only save from Midwestern State goalkeeper Lauren Short in the 81st minute.
Midwestern State (11-1-6) doubled its lead midway through the second half when Jasmine Montgomery slipped a pass into Nyxalee Muñoz, who finished calmly into the bottom right corner in the 65th minute.
Schlumbohm finished with one save in 90 minutes, anchoring a defense that faced nine Mustang corner kicks and 11 total shots.
