St. Edward's Athletics announced Margarita "Maggie" Nieto as its Vincent Powell Spirit Award winner during Tuesday night's awards ceremony and end-of-year banquet, the Goatspy Awards. 
 
The Vincent Powell Spirit Award recognizes an individual (student, parent, staff member, faculty member, etc.) who demonstrates leadership and a commitment to school spirit across the SEU campus. This award honors an individual whose passion for St. Edward's and our athletics teams is unparalleled.  
 
Nieto, a member of the custodial staff, is a favorite among St. Edward's student-athletes for her constant enthusiasm and unbridled joy for Hilltopper athletics. She was one of four faculty and staff members celebrated in the starting lineup during Men's Basketball's Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night, selected as a member of the university who makes a significant positive impact on the lives of student-athletes. 
 
The award was presented to Nieto by head basketball coaches Andre Cook and J.J. Riehl, with special thanks from the women's basketball team, who thanked her for her support of SEU Athletics.
