Men's Soccer Opens Pacific Northwest Trip with 3-1 Loss to Western Washington

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Western Washington scored three second-half goals in a 12-minute span to hand St. Edward's a 3-1 loss on Wednesday night at Harrington Field.

After a scoreless first half, Filip Karlsson broke through for the Vikings in the 60th minute with a close-range finish off assists from Landon Schulze and Albin Jonsson. Jonsson doubled the lead just over three minutes later, pouncing on a loose ball and slotting a shot inside the far post. Jose Perez capped the run in the 71st minute, converting on quick passing from Reiley Buri-Brown and Sebastiano Silvetti to make it 3-0.

IRVIN ABARCA pulled one back for the Hilltoppers in the 82nd minute, scoring from 16 yards out after a corner kick scramble, but St. Edward's could not cut further into the deficit.

The Hilltoppers (2-2-2) outshot Western Washington 14-7 but managed just one shot on target. St. Edward's will remain in Washington to face Seattle Pacific University on Friday at 7:00 p.m. CT.
