Junior (2015-16): Compiled a 20-11 singles record and 24-9 in doubles action overall…was a perfect 5-0 in singles and doubles in Heartland Conference play…playing primarily at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles, tallied a 11-3 and 17-6 record, respectively…finished the season on a five-match singles winning streak.
Sophomore (2014-15) (Nebraska): appeared in eight matches total, and one in the spring…went 2-6 in singles, and 2-7 in doubles…named Academic All-Big Ten and to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Freshman (2013-14) (Nebraska): Saw playing time in singles and doubles…finished freshman campaign with 4-5 singles record, playing out of the No. 4 and No. 6 positions…produced a 5-3 doubles record at No. 3…named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
Prep: Coached by Estevam Strecker at the Austin Tennis Academy…climbed as high as No. 23 nationally in 2009…ranked 78th in 2012…finished junior career ranked as the No. 5 player in the state of Texas…Khabele School’s singles champion in the 2012 State Texas Association of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS)…received the Sportsmanship Award for the Arlington SuperChamp Major Zone in 2009…quarterfinalist in the 2011 Vancouver ITF G-4…doubles semifinalist at the 2011 Edmonton ITF G-5…named to the 2011-12 Honor Roll for both Khabele and the Austin Private School Association.
Personal: Hyung-Chul (Charlie) Shin was born on July 4, 1993…son of Hyun-Seok Shin and Sung-Eun Kim…has one sibling, Stephanie…majoring in kinesiology at St. Edward’s with plans of becoming a professor…enjoys playing the drums and guitar, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
