Junior (2015-16): Competed in 31 rounds…tallied a 75.2 scoring average with a 59 percent winning percentage…shot three-over par at the Rattler Invite as he finished a season-best tie for 15
th place.

Sophomore (2014-15): Competed in 32 rounds…tallied a team-best 73.5 scoring average…had three top-five finishes and compiled a 752-219 win-loss record…recorded a low-round score of 67 at the Rattler Invitational on his way to a third-place finish…shot three rounds under par at the Ryan Palmer Invitational to finish seven-under par and tied for third…had 10 rounds under par on the season.

Freshman (2013-14): Competed in 34 rounds…registered an average score of 73.3…recorded a low-round score of 65 at the Macdonald Cup…compiled a win-loss record of 729-320…shot the lowest round of the first two rounds at the NCAA National Tournament, firing a three-under par, 68 in round two…finished the National Tournament tied for fifth place, which was the best individual finish in school history.

Prep: Lettered four years at Lake Travis High School…made back-to-back appearances on the all-state, all-region, and all-district team in 2011 and 2012…helped his team win back-to-back state titles in 2011 and 2012…was the 2011 and 2012 Texas Junior Golf Tour (TJGT) Barton Creek-Holiday Classic champion…finished fourth at the state tournament in 2011 and 2012…had one top-10 finish and three top-20 finishes in 2012 with the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA)…shot a low round of 66 at Live Oak Golf Course and Lyons Municipal.

Personal: Dillon Jeffrey Van Essen was born on May 31, 1995…son of Jeffery and Barbara Van Essen of Austin, Texas…has three siblings Dane (23), Christina (19), and Carey (13)…majoring in accounting at St. Edward’s with hopes of becoming a PGA professional or a chief financial officer (CFO) of a major corporation…his hobbies include playing tennis, Ping-Pong, bowling, and poker…also enjoys boating and playing video games…his biggest athletic thrill was winning consecutive golf state championships.
