    Volunteer Men's Soccer Coach

Cory Speed is entering his second year as volunteer assistant coach for the Hilltoppers. Speed primarily works with the goalkeepers and helped current goalkeeper John Kaschak earn first-team All-Heartland Conference for his play last year. Prior to joining St. Edward’s, Speed was the head boys’ soccer coach at Hutto High School, where he was named the District 5-4A Coach of the Year in 2011. He served as an assistant at Sterling College during the 2009 season and helped lead the Warriors to a 10-7-1 record.

As a player, Speed played four seasons at Sterling College. He was named All-Conference during his freshman, junior and senior seasons. He served as the team captain and was named defensive MVP in his junior and senior years. During Speed’s senior season, he was named Conference and Regional Goalkeeper of the Year, as well as an NAIA All-American. Speed played one season with the Kansas City Brass in the Premier Development League (PDL) in 2007 and qualified for the U.S. Open Cup.

Speed earned his bachelor’s degree in Language and Literature at Sterling College in 2008.
