St. Edward’s track and field welcomes Sir Jonathan Sims as its new assistant coach, specializing in jumps.
Sims is coming off a stellar collegiate career that began at the University of Arizona and concluded at Tarleton State in the spring of 2026, earning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.
He earned Western Athletic Conference 2025 championships in the outdoor triple jump and indoor long jump, and was the runner-up in the outdoor long jump and indoor triple jump. Sims is Tarleton State’s outdoor long jump record holder (7.93 meters), and ranks second all-time in the indoor long jump (7.78 meters) and indoor triple jump (15.81 meters). He earned All-America Honorable Mention in 2025. At Arizona, he won the Pac-12 triple jump championship and placed fourth overall in nationals.
In 2026, Sims helped Tarleton State to its first men’s track and field WAC Team Championship, winning the triple jump and placing second in Friday’s long jump, earning Most Outstanding Performer of the Meet.
Sims joins a St. Edward's program coming off a season in which the Hilltoppers set multiple school records and continued building momentum under Rathke's leadership.
